Consumer safety

Health & Beauty

Counterfeit cosmetics and personal care products put real people at risk. NovaVera puts a covert identity in the bottle, the cap, the label and the carton, so a phone or reader can tell the genuine product from a refill or a fake.

The challenge

Why the usual features fall short

Beauty products are copied fast and sold through the same marketplaces as the real thing. Look-alike packaging is cheap, refilled containers are common, and a consumer cannot tell a dangerous fake from the product they trust.

Where NovaVera fits

Built into the material

Crystals go into the molded bottle and cap, the label varnish and the carton print. A phone confirms the crystal and the unit code; a reader confirms the lot. Where an ingredient matters, its level can be measured non-destructively.

Practical applications

  • Bottles, jars and closures molded with crystal masterbatch
  • Label varnish and carton inks with a covert identity
  • Holographic labels: overt, covert and forensic in one
  • Ingredient and additive verification
  • Diversion checks by market

Plastics

The identity is in every molded part.

Crystals are compounded into a masterbatch, the concentrated pellets molders already use for color and additives. Let the masterbatch down on a normal molding or extrusion line and every part carries the code from the first shot. Nothing is printed, attached or peeled off.

Invisible inkjet · on the line you already run

Print the invisible. Two ways.

The same crystal ink prints a data-matrix code, serial number or logo that disappears in daylight, glows under UV and carries a covert crystal layer only our reader can confirm. Drop it into an HP45 cartridge, or run it continuously with UV curing, without ever touching the product.

HP45 thermal inkjet cartridges

Crystal ink in a standard HP45-format thermal cartridge. It drops into the coder already on your line or a desktop printer for samples. No new station, no new head.

  • Demonstrated at 800 units a minute on pharmaceutical vials
  • Crystals about 0.3 µm, small enough to jet without clogging. Conventional security phosphors are a micron and larger, too big for inkjet heads
  • Two layers in one mark: a UV-visible code anyone with a flashlight can check, and a covert crystal only our reader can measure
  • Data-matrix, QR, serial numbers, lot codes and logos

Best for: cartons, labels, vials, caps and paper, and pilot runs that start on a desk and move to the line unchanged.
