NovaVera · Intelligent Material® inside

Authentication built into the material.

Built for products where compromise is costly. NovaVera embeds covert, machine-readable crystals directly into ink, fiber, plastic and film, so verification holds up when labels, holograms and codes fall short.

The problem

Surface security can be copied.

Labels, holograms, printed codes and luminescent tracers all sit on the surface. A counterfeiter with the right equipment can reproduce them, and many already do.

Intelligent Material is inside. It is added during manufacturing to the ink, fiber, plastic or film itself, so there is nothing to peel off, nothing to copy, and nothing to buy outside the certified supply chain. Each crystal is grown to a precise recipe and answers light with its own optical signature.

Why it is harder to copy

Solutions

Trust, embedded.

One material, three jobs.

01

Authentication & brand protection

Confirm a product is genuine with markers built into the product or its packaging.

  • Overt or covert features
  • Detection at ppm–ppt concentrations
  • Tamper-proof integration and detection
  • Handheld readers and imagers for the field
  • Scalable across global product lines

02

Traceability

Embedded signatures create a physical chain of custody that persists through processing, distribution and sale.

  • Origin verification, from source to shelf
  • Works with existing track-and-trace systems
  • Batch level: origin, SKU, factory, brand and year
  • Item level: a unique optical fingerprint per unit

03

Material & ingredient verification

Quantify key ingredients, such as colorants and additives, or verify recycled content in the final product.

  • Colorant and additive quantification
  • Recycled-content verification
  • ppm–ppt precision
  • Non-destructive, field-ready testing

How it works

Tag it. Read it.

Sub-micron crystals go into the materials you already use. NovaVera readers read their optical signature, instantly and without damaging anything, in the field or in the lab.

Ink

Security, packaging and inkjet inks, printed on your existing presses.

Fiber

Spun into fibers and threads, from apparel to security paper.

Plastic

Compounded into masterbatch for molded parts, caps and closures.

Film

Coated or laminated into labels, films and windows.

Metal

Applied as coatings that travel with coils, castings and parts.

Overt

By eye

Visual features anyone can check: a consumer, a nurse, a store clerk.

Covert

By phone

An app excites the crystal, confirms it is there, then checks the unit’s code against its record.

Forensic

By reader

A handheld reader measures the full optical signature: which crystal, how much, and whether it matches the lot.

One product can carry all three levels, so each person in the chain uses the check that fits their job.

How to start

From first meeting to launch in about four months.

You work with NovaVera, the exclusive licensee of Intelligent Material, from the first meeting to the supply agreement. Every program follows the same five steps, and you decide after each one whether to go on.

  1. StartProblem assessmentDefine what you need to prove, where, and who will check it.
  2. Design workshopSpecs designChoose the crystal and the detection method that fit your material and process.
  3. 3–6 weeksFeasibility testingIntelligent Material goes into samples of your own ink, plastic, fiber or adhesive, and is shown to read reliably.
  4. 1–3 months · at your sitePilotThe crystal goes into your real manufacturing process, and pilot batches are read on your line.
  5. About 4 monthsLaunchA long-term supply agreement, or a short-term data-collection contract.
A fraction of a cent per item.

The crystal works at parts-per-million loadings, inside an ink, plastic, fiber or adhesive you already use. Safety and technical data sheets are available on request under NDA.

Company

Made in Princeton. Grown to a recipe.

NovaVera Corp. makes and sells Intelligent Material® under exclusive license from Intelligent Material Solutions (IMS), on the historic RCA / Sarnoff campus in Princeton, New Jersey. Its liquid-state crystal synthesis produces uniform sub-micron crystals: one phase, one size, one shape, every batch.

We serve central banks, pharmaceutical manufacturers and brand owners, under an ISO 9001 certified quality system.
